I'd rather be behind the camera than in front of it. I like to seek out quiet, lonely, beautiful places and capture that beauty in pictures. I call Charlton, NY home these days but I've also lived in the Hudson Valley and North Country. I'm a mostly self-taught photographer and really didn't discover my passion for making images until after college. I'm also an engineer and work with the power industry, renewable energy, and most aspects of how we make, transmit, and use electric energy. There is something very satisfying about creating an image that captivates one’s attention. Images have the power to illicit strong feelings and to transport the viewer to another time and place. I truly believe that the camera is the least important part of the image making process. Its a bit of a cliché but it's true! I used to make some really nice images with an HP 850 point and shoot camera, then a Canon 20d, today... These days I'm mostly using a Canon 5D mkII dSLR body, 17-40mm L, 24-105mm L, remote shutter release, a few filters (ND's and polarizer), Manfotto 3021 tripod legs with a couple of heads... there is quite a bit of other stuff in my camera bag but that's the primary gear for landscape photography. I'm also shooting Paul Buff studio lights mixed with speed lights for portrait work.
